Oona Wagner, MHC-LP
I'm Oona, a mental health counselor with a Masters in Counseling from Hunter College. My approach is warm, curious, and collaborative. I’m not here just to nod. I’ll ask real questions, reflect honestly, and help you make sense of the parts of yourself that feel heavy, confusing, or hard to sit with.
If you’re here, chances are something feels stuck. Maybe it’s lingering trauma, a major life change, relationship struggles, or a sense of being lost or disconnected. I specialize in helping people work through depression, anxiety, OCD, substance use, and personality disorders, as well as complex emotions like grief, shame, anger, heartbreak, and loneliness.
Much of what makes therapy work is the relationship itself. You should feel safe, understood, and able to be fully yourself. I’ll challenge you when it’s needed, find moments for humor, and always meet you with warmth and humility. My work draws from psychodynamic, CBT, narrative, and relational approaches. I want to understand your past to help shape where you’re going.
I also bring a personal passion for supporting service industry workers. Having spent years in restaurants myself, I know the pressures of that world and the unique and specific toll it can take on mental health.
Therapy can feel intimidating, but it can also be energizing and even exciting. Staying curious about yourself is one of the bravest things you can do. Whether you’re seeking relief from a specific struggle or simply want more support, I’d love to be a resource for you.
Outside of sessions, you’ll probably find me cooking for friends, thrift shopping, or walking the streets of the city I feel lucky to call home.
