Oona Wagner, MHC-LP

I'm Oona, a mental health counselor with a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Hunter College. I help people explore trauma, work through major life changes and interpersonal challenges, and make sense of feeling lost or disconnected. Saying things out loud can create real movement, and I’m glad you’re here to begin that work.

It’s easy to underestimate the power of speaking openly to another person and how isolating it is when that doesn’t feel possible in daily life. Therapy is about finding that space. I believe much of what makes therapy work comes down to the relationship—you should feel safe, understood, and able to be fully yourself with your therapist. I’ll challenge you, find moments for humor, and always meet you with kindness, warmth, and humility

I specialize in helping people work through depression, anxiety, OCD, substance use, and personality disorders, as well as complex emotions like grief, shame, anger, heartbreak, and loneliness. My work draws from psychodynamic, CBT, narrative, and relational approaches. I’m always curious about your past to understand how you got here and where you want to go.

I also bring a personal passion for supporting service industry workers. Having spent years in restaurants myself, I know the pressures of that world and the unique and specific toll it can take on mental health.

Therapy can feel intimidating, but it can also be energizing and even exciting. Staying curious about yourself is one of the bravest things you can do. Whether you’re seeking relief from a specific struggle or simply want more support, I’d love to be a resource for you.

Outside of sessions, I enjoy cooking for friends and listening to podcasts. As a native New Yorker, I never tire of walking around this beautiful city I feel lucky to call home.
