Laura Casciola, MHC-LP

I’m Laura, a mental health counselor with a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Hunter College. I believe therapy is a creative collaboration rooted in the authenticity, openness, and humanness of the therapeutic relationship. Within that space, I find that talking can be inherently healing, and allows us to remove the power from concepts in our minds and give it back to ourselves.

My approach is based in helping clients articulate, understand, and organize their experiences or stories, rewriting them to be more empowering, manageable, and motivating. That might mean understanding the story through psychodynamic exploration, feeling it through somatic practices, and challenging it through narrative and CBT-based approaches.

Entering your world is a privilege, and I am always honored to be a trusted collaborator in your emotional process. Together, we’ll work to make meaning of diverse elements of your experience, ways of thinking, and patterns, in an effort to provide you with deeper clarity and more contentment.

Starting therapy (for the first time, or the first time in a while) might be inspired by a challenging moment, but is valuable at any stage - even the happiest eras deserve deep acknowledgment, exploration, and understanding. No matter where you are today, I commend you for considering dedicating more time to your inner world.

When I’m not in session you might find me writing, trying to improve my cooking skills, and taking citi bikes whenever/wherever possible.
